Hi. I am Lydia, happy owner of Eerie Silence. Here's a little about me.

I absolutely love God, life, music, food and the camera, but really the people that are involved in my life. This is my personal photo journal in which I want you to feel. With entries that are heart felt. The ones that draw more than just my memory back at a moment. My goal is to create an environment where this is possible.

For me there is something fulfilling about taking photographs and falling completely in love with it and the memories it creates. With that being said, photography is crazy important to me, and if for you too, then we're totally going to be a great fit!

A Reflection of One's Soul

I've received some questions of readers wanting to know if I have an Instagram account. Yes I do! It's eerie_silence. As of recently I've been posting a lot of random photographs including my "photography" in different angles other than the usual Instagram square. I am very neat with all I own, including my social sites and personally right now my account looks a bit messy. Above I chose some of my favorite photographs and made a collage to share with you guys.

I like Instagram, to me it reflects a lot about a person's soul and their interests. Mine is messy now but that's because I am too busy. I think it reflects that at the moment. Normally I post a lot of girly things and everything I love. I don't do it to show off but just because most of the things I share I find pretty. I love roses, color pink and video games. I guess you can see a lot of that and more.

I have several accounts online but I tend to think of my Instagram as a secondary blog (although I do have a secondary blog on Tumblr I haven't updated) and I love how fast I can share my photos with you. I recently got asked about what apps I use to edit my Instagram photos with, and what filters I use. I answered in a previous post so check it out! I like to make them brighter and to make them "pop" more (brightness, contrast and saturation) for a much clean look. I never use Instagram's filters. To my camera photos I usually edit them with CS3 but I also edit them on my iPhone to try match the same style.

And here are some tips to get an "interesting" Instagram account:
  • Choose a style, and try to keep it through all your pictures - This is what I try to do and it is very difficult because I don't always have natural light which is my most favorite. I've seen some amazing Instagram accounts that do this very well.
  • Food photos - I've seen some terrible food photographs. Make sure your food looks neat and in place. It is quite difficult to achieve an appetizing photo of your food but please try your hardest.
  • Take pictures of different things not just the same - Quite silly but repetitive photos tent to get boring even if its from different angles. I try to share just one photo of a certain day or thing. Not multiple.
  • For a more personal Instagram, have some (or lots) photos of yourself - This is why this blog is personal. I have tons of photos of myself because It's something I enjoy. If you wish to, its totally ok to have a personal Instagram account with lots of selfies.
  • Post whatever you want - It's your account and you are free to post whatever you please, really. Whoever will follow you will because they like what you share. I don't worry at all about whatever people think of my account because of what I share.
  • If you use photos that are not yours, please tag the person who the photo belongs to.
I hope this post helps you achieve the Instagram account of your dreams :) Feel free to follow me if you like what you see and don't follow to unfollow to follow to unfollow... I can see who does it... xx
